Ceramic bearings can be used in high speed, high temperature, low temperature, highly corrosive, strong magnetic field, vacuum, high pressure and harsh working conditions. To facilitate people to the proper selection and use of ceramic bearings, ceramic bearings of the main features are described below:
1) High carrying capacity - hardness ceramic material up to 2 times the bearing steel, 1.5 times the modulus of elasticity of bearing steel. Therefore, the carrying capacity of ceramic bearings also significantly higher than the bearing steel bearings.
2) Heat resistance - ceramic material at high temperature strength decreases very small, even at 800 degrees Celsius has remained high strength and mechanical properties, while the ceramic material is only 22% expansion rate of the bearing steel, and therefore high-temperature dimensional stability good.
3) High speed limit - working speed ceramic ball bearings up to the same type of bearing steel bearing 1.3 times the speed limit.
4) Small friction temperature - temperature ceramic ball bearings operating at 18000r / min of speed when the bearing steel bearing temperature rise of about 60% under the same conditions.
5) Small friction loss - bearing of the same type, quality ceramic material smaller than steel rolling elements during the operation suffered a small centrifugal force and gyroscopic moment, the spin sliding small, so friction losses significantly lower than the bearing steel bearings.
6) High durability - high hardness of ceramic materials, excellent wear resistance, ceramic ball bearing operating life is generally more common bearing steel bearings twice.
7) Good corrosion resistance - ceramic materials resistant to hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, caustic soda and other inorganic acids, organic acids, salts, bases and molten metal corrosion, but in the molten iron and hydrogen fluoride, which can be more corrosion resistance poor use is important to note.
8) Insulation, and low permeability - almost an insulator, permeability is much smaller than 0.1H, suitable for any non-magnetic parts.
9) Self-lubricating - ceramic bearings can achieve self-lubricating.
Currently most used as a bearing material is silicon nitride
